Assistant to the Conference Director
The Assistant to the Conference Director is a key player in the planning and execution of the Conference. They will be working directly with the Conference Director, Annie deBruynkops.
Attending and running all meetings with Conference Director
Actively involved with the status of all committees
Assisting with speaker organization (keynote, breakouts, panel)
Assistant to Director of Sponsorships & Company Partnerships
An instrumental component of the Women’s Leadership Conference in April is seeking out sponsorships to fund the event. The AD of Sponsorship and Company Partnerships will be connecting with industry professionals and companies to raise capital and will be working directly with WIB executive board member, Kathy Phi, in preparation for the Conference.
Fundraising locally and statewide
Managing conference budget
- Maintaining corporate relationships
Assistant to the Director of High School Partnerships
One of the goals of the Women’s Leadership Conference is to directly involve young women from local high schools in the event, and the High School Partnerships Directors will facilitate this involvement. Will be working directly with WIB executive board member, Annie Wilson, in preparation for the Conference.
Conducting outreach to local High Schools
Creating and polishing program proposals
Interfacing with Executives and Cal Poly Admissions to select and plan High School Workshops at the Women’s Leadership Conference
- Facilitating day-of logistics pertaining to the visiting high school students
Each committee will include 2-4 members
The Marketing Committee is responsible for managing all brand presence for the Conference. They will collaborate on multiple creative elements including, but not limited to, overall brand design, social media posts, general marketing concepts, promotional and event planning.
Members of this committee needs to be capable of generating creative, captivating content that appeals to correct target audiences while ensuring content and visuals are aligned with overall WIB marketing strategy and the WIB brand.
Generating content (both visual and written) for promotional material
Developing strategies for social media campaigns
Developing strategies for on campus marketing for events
Planning and booking for marketing events
Acting as the point of contact for all external inquiries regarding use of promotional materials, or requests for promotional material creation
Preferred, but not necessary
Knowledge of Facebook page management and strategy
Experience in Adobe suite
Student Scholarship Committee
Female leaders at Cal Poly will have the unique opportunity to apply for and receive monetary scholarships at Women In Business’s Spring Conference in April. This team will be working directly with WIB executive board member and Director of Sponsorship, Kathy Phi to manage this process start to finish.
Working with corporate sponsors to create Scholarship Applications (Winter Quarter)
Marketing these Scholarships to students (Creating promotional materials - Winter Quarter, Facilitating Marketing - Spring Quarter)
Managing application process start to finish
- Organizing applications and working with Executive Board to decide recipients
Catering & Facilities Committee
If you are interested in learning how to manage and run a large scale event, this is the commitee for you! Event planning is a valuable skill that is best mastered by practice, and this is the perfect opportunity to assume a role without an incredible amount of time commitment.
Aiding in the organization and logistics of the conference (creating programs and signage, managing check-in for students and professionals, organizing catering, managing day-of volunteers (20+ students/ community members), facilitating transitions, ect.)
Having a role in communications with other campus and outside entities (i.e. campus dining, UPD, local restaurants, etc.)
Networking Session Committee
Work with sponsoring companies to facilitate a career and networking session at the Spring Conference. The Networking Session Head will be working directly with the Assistant to the Director of Sponsorships and Company Partnerships.
Organizing all corporate sponsors for the networking session, including communicating directly with professionals and local and national corporations.

Pre-Conference Event Committee
The Pre-Conference Event Committee is responsible for all planning and logistics of the pre-conference social dinner. This is the perfect opportunity to assume a role of planning a much smaller-scale event (60 people) without an incredible amount of time commitment.
